FAQs
When & Where are the club meetings ?
Our club meetings are run typically on the 4th Thursday of each month at the Breakers Country Club Wamberal at 7:30 PM. Anyone interested in the club or wants to learn more about us are welcome to come on down as you don’t need to be a member.
Is the club super competitive ?
Depends who you ask haha. To have sporting club insurance we are a sports club that runs competitions. However in-house we consider ourselves to be more of a local social club that holds group events. A lot of our divers are super selective and quite happy to chase 1 or 2 specific fish and come in with nothing. Each event is more of a friendly social days diving.
I’m a female spearo, will I fit in?
Absolutely !!!!! we welcome all female divers to join our community. We take pride in our diverse group of members, which already includes some talented female divers. Our female divers will give the lads a run for their money and are an integral part of our community.
I have a young son / daughter that wants to get involved, can they?
Most definitely!!!!. The club fosters a supportive environment where young divers can thrive. By connecting them with a network of experienced divers, the club ensures that they learn the sport in a safe, sustainable, and enjoyable manner. This mentorship not only instils essential diving skills but also emphasises the importance of responsible practices in our marine ecosystems. With an emphasis on fun, the club provides a platform for juniors to form friendships, share experiences, and develop a lifelong passion for spearfishing while respecting our underwater world.
I’m not really competitive, can i still come dive the events ?
Absolutely you can. ultimately its up to the individual if they want to be competitive or not. Yes we hold comps and have a small minority of divers that are competitive however there are plenty, that just like diving socially once a month.
What events are held during the year ?
We host monthly competitions, but they resemble social events more than traditional competitions. Alongside these events, we organise weekends away for club members that focus on social dive trips. This format allows divers to enjoy the camaraderie of the group while participating at their own pace, whether they choose to be competitive or simply to socialise and enjoy a few beers around the camp fire.
Do I need a boat ?
Lucky enough we have you covered. Within our club there is a large network of members that already have boats and so quite often there is more space than not at our events. The best way is to message the guys before the event to confirm your spot but if that doesn’t happen don’t stress, we can squeeze you in on the day where possible.
