This year we are stoked to have James Sakker come on down and share his legendary knowledge, tips, and techniques for chasing Eastern Rock Lobsters. If you have already seen James's channel on YouTube “Catch it, Grow it, Cook it “ you know he’s a proper cray whisperer.

Known for his wild rock hops, hilarious yarns and of course pulling monster crays, James will have you laughing so hard you will need a snorkel out of the water.

This is one you wont want to miss - it will be better than a PB Lobster !!

GENERAL INFORMATION

Competition Rules

  • Sign on and Registration - 7 AM at Terrigal boat ramp with competition starting at 8 AM.

  • The Competition is boat and rock hop however, all divers must be present for 7:45 AM safety brief. Divers can then move to their locations for 8AM start.

  • Competition will run from 8am to 1pm with BBQ presentation at 2pm.

  • Competitors must be USFA financial, AUF financial, ASA financial or pay temporary USFA membership.

  • All safety gear is required as per USFA competition rules including float, Alfa flag, whistle, reflector.

  • Pairs can have one float and rig line setup between them but must remain within 30m of their buddy and float at all times.

  • No diving within competition area 24hrs prior to the event.

  • Competition boundary is from Box Head in the south, to Fraser Park Beach in the North.

  • All species must be taken in accordance with NSW Fisheries size and gear rules/regulations.

  • All species must be taken by hand (i.e no lobster pots)

  • All species must be taken on the day of competition.

REGISTRATION FEES - $30 per diver plus USFA/AUF insurance (TBC)

Competition Scoring

  • The event is a pairs event targeting Eastern rock Lobster, Slipper lobster and Blacklip Abalone.

  • Each diver can weigh in one of each species and as a pair (2 divers) there may be up to 2 of each species weighed. Broken legs, antennas etc cant be added to the cray when weighed. If its not attached its not included.

  • Scoring will go off total weight per pair for the pairs placings.

Competition Cancelation

In the event that there are adverse weather conditions making it unsafe to dive, the committee will make a call 24hrs prior to the event. If the event is cancelled it will rescheduled to a later date. All updates posted via Central Coast Sealions Instagram & Facebook page.
